When faced with a mountain

"When faced with a mountain, I will not quit!
I will keep striving until I climb over,
find a pass through, tunnel underneath
or simply stay and turn the mountain into a gold mine. "

-Robert Half

There are times in life when we think that we have hit a wall. Nothing seems to work no matter how hard we try. It's easy to then simply quit and give up. It's difficult to get out of bed in the morning and also difficult to go to bed at night. But as it is said it is usually darkest before dawn. Sometimes it helps to stop for a moment and lean back and think about the big picture. Sometimes the solution is obvious but we can not see it because we are not relaxed. Sometimes finding a solution requires us to change our perspective. Sometimes to get to the solution demands big changes. It pushes us to our limit and tests us in unexpected and difficult ways. Sometimes all solutions have serious drawbacks, there simply isn't even a slightly usable solution. Then we have to choose the least bad of the bad solutions and work with what we got. But having weathered dark times and survived still made us stronger. And somestimes we have to admit that not every problem has a solution at all. We need to be honest with ourselves, is there really no solution or do we don't want the changes a solution would bring? But sometimes there really is no solution. Then we can only learn to live with the situation. Maybe we need to see life more as a game and take us and our problems less serious. Maybe when we can't climb over, can't dig a tunnel and don't want to stay we can just walk around and avoid the mountain at all.
