Back in Montréal: Piles of snow

In the beginning of 2008 we moved back to Montréal, this time for good.

This time we arrived in Montréal in winter and in a winter full of snow. The newspapers said that it was the biggest amount of snow since 1971!

At the beginning we stayed in the same hotel as we had stayed in 2003/4. I felt home immediately!

Before arriving in Montréal it had been a winter without much snow for us, so we all absolutely loved the snow! Our little daughter couldn't get enough of it, she jumped and played and was as happy as can be! However I noticed that many Montrealérs who already had to cope with the snow since November couldn't share our enthusiasm completely... But at least a lot of them smiled!

Back in Westmount Park:

Our favourite inhabitants were greeting us:

Once we got into a snowstorm while we were driving. Oh, well, we had never driven in such weather conditions before. There was so much snow on the highway and the roads. In some of the side streets it was difficult to get through. Sometimes there was ice under the snow which made driving dangerous. We needed to put the heating and the air circulation on max to stop the windows from freezing too much. Still we came across a lot of drivers stopping to clear the windows from the ice and probably we had needed to do that as well if our destination had been further away. It was really so incredible, I never experienced something like this before.

The snow removal in downtown Montréal is still fascinating for me:

Piles of snow everywhere:

I am glad to be back!
