Treating a nasal infection with iodine

Salt water nasal rinses with or without iodine have long been used to treat colds, the flu or Covid-19. It accelerates healing and you can avoid headaches from a sinus infection that may follow. Since the declared Covid-19 pandemic a number of studies have been done and they used a diluted povidone iodine solution to rinse or spray the nasal passages:

The problem with all these nasal rinses and sprays is that they are messy. It's OK if you feel that you are going to get really sick but if you are not so sure then you would probably not use it. It takes too much time, it may stain your cloth and it's unpleasant.

Elemental iodine is actually a solid that sublimes at room temperature. That is: Iodine evaporates without getting liquid. Elemental iodine does not dissolve well in water but it can be dissolved in a potassium iodine (aka iodine salt) solution or in an alcohol (ethanol) water mixture or in a povidone water mixture.

You dissolve white potassium iodine salt crystals in water and then you can dissolve some brown elemental iodine in that solution. This is called Lugol's Iodine. The "liquid iodine" that you can get for the purpose of wound desinfection at the pharmacy is elemental iodine dissolved in a alcohol water mixture with some potassium iodine dissolved in the water part of the solution. Povidone-Iodine is a slow release iodine made by adding elemental iodine to a solution of polyvinylpyrrolidone (aka polyvidone or povidone) in water. The povidone semi binds the iodine and releases it more slowly.

Dr Myhill, a doctor from the UK, suggest that it's actually enough to inhale small quantities of iodine vapor.

I have tried iodine vapors and it works. It's especially useful if you are not really sick and you have just a slightly congested nose. If you have already a totally congested and runny nose then a full nasal rinse is better. Dr Myhill suggest to put a few drops of 15% lugol's iodine into a salt pipe and breath-in the iodine vapors via the nose.

15% lugol's iodine or a iodine in alcohol solution is easier to obtain than elemental iodine. However to get good iodine fumes it's actually better to just use iodine crystals or prilled iodine. You put a few iodine crystals into a bottle and the air-space above will fill with iodine fumes (vapor). Any 100ml or 200ml bottle with a plastic lid is good. Do not use a metal lid because iodine corrodes metals. About 5g of elemental iodine is more than enough. If you take a clear bottle then you will notice that it becomes a brown bottle within a few days. This is because the iodine evaporates and condenses on the walls until there is an equilibrium reached. It's a constant evaporation and condensation process.

To clear your nose you would open the bottle and gently sniff on the fumes. I recommend to not use a bottle with a too wide opening. Any bottle with an opening of 1/2 inch to about 1 inch is OK. This is because you don't want to inhale a too big cloud of fumes at once. You want small amounts. You hold the bottle under your nose and you sniff the fumes a bit (for about 5-10 seconds). After that you close the bottle again. You will smell the fumes immediately but as opposed to the nasal rinse you will not notice an immediate clearing of the nose. It takes about 10min to 15min until you notice that your nose opens up.

I find this very method convenient and there is no mess.

Two different bottles filled with a little bit of prilled iodine. The bottle on the right is sold by https://ingredientdepot.com/ , a canadian company. It's filled only about 1/2 inch high when you buy it. I don't think they intended it to be an iodine sniff bottle but it is perfect for this purpose.

Iodine works for viruses, bacteria and fungi. Basically it works to clear any kind of infection (you don't care what it is. everything except allergies). However don't over do it. Elemental iodine is aggressive but as you have seen above there have been studies showing that it is well tolerated. I use it intermittently and when needed 2-5 times a day and I have not had any side-effects.

When do I use it? I have noticed after meeting people or I waiting in a bigger crowd that I have afterwards sometimes a need to clear my throat or my nose is slightly congested in the evening.

I attribute this to covid vaccine shedding. As we know now the so called vaccines contain a large number of bacterial plasmids (see Kevin McKernan, https://anandamide.substack.com/p/ics5 and https://anandamide.substack.com/p/senate-testimony). These plasmids are a known way to transfect bacteria. Moderna and Pfizer used ecoli bacteria to make the spike protein RNA and they did not remove the plasmids. This means that somebody who took those shots will be able to transfect bacteria in their microbiom. That is: bacteria that live naturally in the person's gut, throat, mouth or nose may start to continuously make spike protein. We know also that there is no off switch and some people are simply unable to clear the spike protein production via their immune system.

So I think this is what happens: If I stand close to people who have such plasmids transfected bacteria and they breath them out then this causes an inate immune response when I breath them in. That is: My mucus membranes try to trap and wash away the bacteria by producing phlegm.

To clear my throat I use a spray bottle with some ascorbic acid water (vitamin C) and I simply spray this into my mouth. I clear the nose with the iodine fumes.

It works very well.

In the past I would sometimes get unwell a day or two after being in a bigger crowd. I would recover but it still bothered me that I would get slightly sick. Besides the obvious congested nose symptom I would get loose stool. If I did nothing then it would take about a week for it to go away. It seems that a healthy microbiom can push the invaders aside but it takes some time. If I took ivermectin then the problem would be resolved the next day. Thanks to the iodine fumes and the vitamin-c throat spray this is now a thing of the past. It was quite reproducible. The people that I met did not seem to have significant disease symptoms. For them it must be more a permanent chronic state. It's also a new phenomenon that started in recent years. I have not seen this happening with such a frequency in they decades before the covid shots. Why are the people with this transfected microbiom not really sick? They are sick and they do develop a tolerance. That is: their immune system stops fighting the bad bacteria and they reach a state of latent chronic illness. They don't feel well but they don't know what to do about it and their doctors are also clueless.
