Crafts idea: Hazelnut fridge magnets

It's the time of the year when we like to sit by the fireplace to eat some nuts. Here is an idea for some fun fridge magnets made out of hazelnut shells and a small stack of neodyn magnets.

a hazelnut shell split in halves a few small neodyn magnets the neodyn magnets in the shell Hazelnut fridge magnet

With a bit of luck, you can crack a hazelnut such that there are exactly two halves. Those shells can be filled with some strong neodyn magnets and glued back together. Makes a very nice fridge magnet.

I used ordinary school glue to stick the shells back together and it holds very well.
