Firefox crash, ubuntu 16.04

Firefox is the example of how an incompetent management team can destroy a product and a company. This web browser used to have a significant market share and now it has almost collapsed. The problem is however that Firefox is basically the only competition to chromium/google. We can therefore not let it die and you should support it just to prevent a market monopoly.

I have an older Ubuntu 16.04 computer and Firefox runs on it but crashes randomly and in a non reproducible way. These crashes can be prevented if you use synchronized X11 calls by using the "-sync" option:

nice /opt/firefox-140.9.1esr/firefox -sync

Start firefox as above and you have an up-to-date web browser even on an older Linux installation. It runs stable and works reliably.

You can download the Linux ESR version at:
https://www.firefox.com/en-US/download/all/desktop-esr/linux64/en-US/
